MRTA and Defence Technology Institute sign an MOU on developing knowledge and creating innovations in security in the MRT system

June 10, 2024, Mr. Vithaya Punmongkol, Deputy Governor (Operations) and Acting Governor of Mass
Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) and
Gp.Capt. Komson Prapunkarn, Deputy
Director of Defence Technology Institute and Acting Director of Defence
Technology Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in
research and development of knowledge and innovation in security
and order maintenance in the mass rapid transit system at
Defence Technology Institute. The signing ceremony was
presided by Gen. Porpol Maneerin, Chairman of Defence
Technology Institute.

Punmongkol, Deputy Governor (Operations) and
Acting Governor of MRTA said that “Currently, 4 MRT lines
under MRTA’s responsibility are open for service namely
the M.R.T. Chaloem
Ratchamongkhon Line (MRT Blue Line),
the M.R.T. Chalong
Ratchadham Line (MRT Purple Line),
the M.R.T. Nakkhara
Phiphat Line (MRT Yellow Line), and
the MRT Pink Line: Khae Rai – Min
Buri Section. MRTA
has supervised the services to be efficient so that people can receive
convenient and fast services. There is measures
to maintain safety and order within the MRT system area which
is carried out under the responsibility of the Security and Rescue Department
of MRTA. MRTA has introduced modern technology to help
increase security efficiency in the MRT system, such as closed-circuit
television camera systems, automatic metal detector, fire safety systems, etc. In order to drive the continuous development of knowledge in
innovation and technology, MRTA has integrated cooperation with the Defense
Technology Institute which is an agency with expertise in technology
that can provide relevant and useful knowledge to support the mission of
maintaining security in the MRTA’s MRT system, to carry
out research and development of knowledge and innovation regarding security and
order maintenance in the mass rapid transit system”.
