Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister participates in the trial run of the MRT Yellow Line to ensure readiness of public service of all 23 stations, Lat Phrao to Samrong from June 19 onwards

         On June 19, 2023, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister visited the depot at Sri Iam and participated in the trial run of the MRT Yellow Line Project Sri Udom Station (YL16) to Lat Phrao Station (YL01) where he was welcomed by General Anupong Paochinda, Minister of Interior, Mr. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, Prime Minister's Office Minister, Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, Secretary-general to the Prime Minister, Mr. Atirat Ratanasate, Deputy Minister of Transport and Acting Minister of Transport, Mr. Sorapong Paitoonphong, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Transportation), Mr. Pakapong Sirikantaramas, Governor of Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA), and Mr. Keeree Kanjanapas, Chairman of Eastern Bangkok Monorail Company (EBM). Along the trial run route, the system work smoothly and they were joined by general public to ride the trial run. At noon of the same day onwards, the yellow line trains were extended the service to Lat Phrao Station that make the whole 23 stations of the yellow line are available for public use.

          Mr. Pakapong Sirikantaramas, Governor of Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand revealed that the Cabinet meeting on May 29, 2016 approved the Ministry of transport by Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand to implement the MRT Yellow Line Project: Lat Phrao Samrong Section. MRTA and EBM, the concessionaire signed a concession contract on June 16. 2017, and commenced Phase 1 Work, civil work production and installation M&E system works since June 29, 2018. Previously, MRTA supervised the implementation of the concessionaire, including all periods of operation testing to reassure the trial run participants. Lat Phrao Station is the last station of the MRT Yellow Line Project that is opened today for public to participate the trial run. The station located at Ratchada-Lat Phrao Intersection and connected with the M.R.T. Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line (MRT Blue Line). It provides efficient transfer to the trunk line which serves in the inner city for people in the eastern Bangkok and Samut Prakan Province areas. MRTA intends to commence revenue service of the MRT Yellow Line within July 2023 by adhering to the availability of operation and the safety of passenger.
